Abstract
Spectral covariance matrices for outgoing radiation in the 240-700 nm spect ral band (921 channels, spectral resolution 0.5 nm) are calculated. The num ber of independent informative components of radiation is determined for a complex inverse problem (surface albedo, O-3 and NO2 content, atmospheric d ensity, optical characteristics of aerosols) and for individual inverse pro blems for various conditions of satellite experiment. It is shown that the outgoing radiation contains 8-11 independent informative components for the vertical ozone profile, 5-8 for the profile of the atmospheric density, 6- 12 for profiles of the optical characteristics of aerosols and 1-3 for the NO2 profile.
