Abstract
A Strict-Tabu (S-Tabu) optimization of power system stabilizer (PSS) parame ters has been developed and presented in, this paper. To achieve good dampi ng characteristics over a wide range of operating conditions, S-Tabu is use d to search for the best eigenvalue of the PSS and later installed into the phase lead-lag controller. The implementation studies are carried out on b oth single-machine, infinite-bus, and multimachine pourer systems, respecti vely. Simulation studies for a variety of disturbances on the power system with optimized PSS demonstrate its effectiveness in improving system perfor mance. Comparison studies are also performed to show the advantages of the proposed controller over the nonoptimised Conventional PSS (CPSS).
