Abstract
Mass spectrometry (MS) has become the technique of choice to identify prote ins. This has been largely accomplished by the combination of high-resoluti on two-dimensional (2-D) gel separation with robotic sample preparation, au tomated MS measurement, data analysis, and database query. Developments dur ing the last five years in MS associated with protein gel separation are re viewed.
