Abstract
Both homochiral acetates 4d and 5f, which were obtained by lipase-cata lysed acetylation of either the tetraol 4a or the diol 5e, respectivel y have been convened stereoconvergently into a C-5/C-9 fragment of the title antibiotic. (C) 1997 Published by Elsevier Science Ltd.
