Benign symmetric lipomatosis of the pseudoathletic type was identified in a
woman with a positive family history for the disorder and a past history o
f alcohol abuse. She had an exceptionally high number of additional disease
s such as arthropathy with degenerative osteoporosis, hyperuricemia, hyperl
ipidemia, psoriasis, neuropathy, muscular atrophy, arteriosclerosis and inc
reased cardiovascular risk factors.
