Abstract
By reacting Ni(CH3COO)(2). 6H(2)O with H2S in the presence of PPh3, the new Ni/S cluster of formula [Ni-5(mu(5)-S)(mu(2)-S)(2)(mu(2)-S)-(mu-CH3COO)(PP h3)(5)]PF6. C7H8. 0.5CH(2)Cl(2) has been isolated and characterized by X-ra y diffraction analysis. Crystal data: space group P2(1)/c, a = 15.774(4), b = 21.235(7), c = 29.288(7) Angstrom, beta = 95.66(4)degrees. The inner con consists of a square pyramid of five nickel atoms, linked together by a br idging acetate and four variously bridging sulfur ligands. The P-31{H-1} NM R spectra in dichloromethane solution are consistent with the above geometr y. (C) 2000 Elsevier Science S.A. All rights reserved.
