Two complexes. W3Te7[(EtO)(2)PS2](3)I (1) and W3Te7[ ((PrO)-O-i)(2)PS2](3)I
(2), were prepared via solid state reaction of (RO)(2)PS2K with a product
of high temperature reaction of elemental W, Te and I-2. The structures of
the two compounds have been determined by X-ray crystallography. Crystal da
ta are 1: monoclinic, P2(1)/c, Z = 4, a = 14.3862(3), b = 16.2114(1), c = 1
8.9766(2) Angstrom, beta = 111.655(1)degrees, V = 4113.37(10) Angstrom(3),
Z = 4, D-c = 3.435 Mg/m(3); 2: monoclinic, P2(1)/n, Z = 4, a = 14.6197(3),
b = 23.9630(1), c = 15.1249(3) Angstrom, beta = 113.688(1)degrees, V = 4852
.28(14) Angstrom(3), Z = 4, D-c = 3.027 Mg/m(3). The results of both the co
mplexes present the first examples of a cluster containing a [W-3(mu(3)-Te)
