Abstract
The syntheses of a series of fluorophores of the general formula: pyrene-(C F2)(n)-pyrene (n=3, 4 and 6) and pyrene-(CF2)(n)-F (n=4 and 6) are reported using two different methodologies. Copper catalyzed coupling of 1-bromopyr ene and the corresponding mono- and di-iodoperfluoroalkanes are used in mos t cases. All the compounds have been characterized by H-1, C-13, F-19 NMR a nd mass spectroscopies. (C) 2000 Elsevier Science S.A. All rights reserved.
