Preparation and microwave characteristics of magnetic iron fibers

Magnetic iron fibers of diameter down to 2 mu m have been prepared by using bundle-drawing method. The complex permeability and complex permittivity o f iron fiber-epoxy resin composites have been measured in S band. The measu rement results show that iron fibers present magnetic loss at microwave fre quency, and that the microwave permeability and permittivity of iron fibers decrease with the increase of fiber diameter and the decrease of aspect ra tio, respectively.
