Abstract
Under inflammatory conditions after burn/trauma injuries, circulating neutr ophils are frequently hyperactive, contributing to excessive superoxide pro duction and related tissue damage. Although normal neutrophil activation is cooperatively controlled by Ca2+-independent and Ca2+-linked signaling pat hways, exuberant Ca2+-linked signaling appears to cause neutrophil hyperact ivation in the injury conditions.
