A universal Graphical User Interface (GUI) for mu SR data presentation and
analysis has been developed using a Java Applet in the ubiquitous Web brows
er. This "thin Client" communicates with a Server via (remote method invoca
tion) (RMI) to retrieve data over the Internet in the form of compact Java
Objects. The Server has access to a massive archive of mu SR "run" files an
d a relational database of "header" information from those runs. The only c
omponent of this system that depends on the local data file format is a sin
gle Java method that converts the data file into a standard Java "mu SR Run
" Object. Because all components are written in Java, they can be implement
