Abstract
We show that the phases of surface reflections can be determined by simulta neously exciting a surface and a bulk reflection at grazing incidence. The interference between the surface reflections excited by the incident and th e bulk-diffracted waves has been observed for the Ge(113)-(3x1) reconstruct ed surface.
