Electroweak penguin (EWP) amplitudes are studied model independently in B m
eson decays to charmless final states consisting of a vector meson (V) and
a pseudoscalar meson (P). A set of SU(3) relations is derived between EWP c
ontributions and tree amplitudes, in the approximation of retaining only th
e dominant EWP operators Q(9) and Q(10). Two applications are described for
constraining the weak phase gamma, in B+/--->rho(+/-) K-0 and B+/--->rho(0
)K(+/-) (or B+/--->K*(+/-)pi(0) and B+/--->K*(0)pi(+/-)), and in B-0-->K*(/-)pi(-/+) and B+/--->phi K+/-. Theoretical uncertainties are discussed.
