Abstract
A lignan, (8S,8S,)-(+)-8-hydroxy-oxomatairesinol, has been isolated from th e sapwood of Tsuga heterophylla (western hemlock, Pinaceae). The known lign ans matairesinol, lariciresinol and secoisolariciresinol were also obtained . The structure of the compound was established by 1D and 2D NMR spectrosco py. Results of the light-irradiation test of the lignans from T. heterophyl la are also reported. (C) 2000 Elsevier Science Ltd. All rights reserved.
