Abstract
Prostaglandins function is very important during post-partum period in cow. Prostaglandins strongly affect placental expulsion and uterine involution. Such process may be compared to inflammatory reaction. Consequently, PgF(2)alpha and agonists may be used in the treatment and the prevention of placenta retention. Such treatment and prevention may help t o decrease the incidence of delayed uterine involution. Prostaglandins are currently used in delayed uterine involution and endomet ritis treatment, 60 days after calving, provided that uterus is hypertrophi ed.
