We studied the usefulness of the GIS Allergen Screen II (CAS II), a multite
st of dietary allergens (CisBio International), on atopic dermatitis of you
ng children. Forty-five children were included in the study. We compared th
e results from the skin tests (prick tests), the RAST test (Pharmacia) and
from the CAS II for the most common trophoallergens of children (wheat, pea
nuts, eggs, fish and cow's milk). The results indicated an insignificant se
nsitivity for the CAS II test, particularly for the allergy to cow's milk.
The proposed combination is not adapted to pediatric allergies (absence of
beef, tomato and corn are dispensable). Designing a reliable multitest base
d on separate trophoallergens for young children with atopic dermatitis wou
ld be very useful. (C) 2000 Editions scientifiques et medicales Elsevier SA
