Abstract
We prepared Bi2Sr2Can-1CunOy (BSCCO) single crystals using a vertical Bridgman method. From the results we found that the single crystals we re plate-like and in (2212) single phase, and that the typical size wa s 4 x 10 mm(2). The resistance-temperature characteristics indicated t hat the critical temperature of a single crystal was about 80 K. There fore, the vertical Bridgman method is thought to be effective for grow ing a (2212) phase BSCCO single crystal.
