Abstract
Direct addition of pectinase as an elicitor to the hairy root culture of La ctuca virosa L. transformed with Agrobacterium rhizogenes stimulates the ac cumulation of constitutive sesquiterpene lactones - lactuside A and crepidi aside B. The highest amounts of lactuside A (80% above the control level) a nd crepidiaside B (39% above the control level) have been found 24 and 48 h ours, respectively, after pectinase treatment.
