Abstract
YBa2Cu3Ox crystals were synthesized at low temperature using barium ni trate melts as a flux. Barium nitrate melts were maintained in a molte n state by controlling their decomposition under various gas pressures . By decomposing nitrates at a slow rate, orthorhombic YBa2Cu3Ox cryst als were directly synthesized at 690 degrees C under a NOx/O-x atmosph ere.
