Abstract
A ca. 5.5-kb region of Pseudomonas resinovorans genome containing the polyh ydroxyalkanoate (PHA) biosynthesis locus was sequenced. Three complete open -reading-frames (ORFs), i.e., phaCl(Pr), phaZ(Pr), and phaC2(Pr), were iden tified. Using this sequence information, phaCl(Pr) was PCR-cloned from P. r esinovorans genomic DNA and expressed in E. coli as shown by a Nile Red pla te assay and gas chromatography/mass spectrometric analysis.
