The electrical conductivity of poly(hydroxyethyl acrylate) PHEA, hydro
gels was studied by means of dielectric relaxation spectroscopy in wid
e ranges of frequency (5 Hz-2 GHz), temperature (173-363 K) and water
content (0.065-0.46 g of water per gram of dry material). The data are
analyzed within the formalisms of permittivity, impedance and modulus
. The results are discussed in terms of temperature- and water-induced
effects, shape of the response, fragility and homogeneous-heterogeneo
us nature of the hydrogels.
