Mh. Liang et al., Improvement on microwave dielectric properties of Ba(Mg1/3Ta2/3)O-3 materials prepared via a two-step process, FERROELECTR, 238(1-4), 2000, pp. 645-653
A two-step process, which includes the formation of B-site compounds, MgTa2
O6, followed by the formation of Ba(Mg1/3Ta2/3)O-3, BMT, perovskite by reac
ting BaCO3 with MgTa2O6, has been successfully applied for synthesizing BMT
materials. The powders prepared by 2-step process exhibit superior reactiv
ity and result in ceramics with larger Q-factor (Q.f(o), =600,000 GHz) than
the properties obtainable fur the materials prepared by the single-step pr
ocess. Thermogravimetric and differential thermal analyses indicate that th
e mechanism is the effective suppression on the formation of secondary phas
e, Ba5Ta4O15.
