Abstract
Henry's constants of n-alkanols (methanol to n-hexanol) in water were measu red at temperatures between 40 degrees C and 90 degrees C using a recently developed headspace gas chromatographic technique. The data were in good ag reement with literature data when available. The consistency of the data wa s verified by comparing calculated partial molar enthalpies with calorimetr ic values, The temperature dependence of dimensionless Henry's constants wa s fitted with the classical van't Hoff equation and an empirical correlatio n was established for the dimensionless Henry's constants as a function of temperature and number of carbon atoms in the n-alkanol, (C) 2000 Elsevier Science B.V.
