ADVANCES IN THE FIELD OF EXPERIMENTAL MYCOLOGY AS A BASIS FOR DEVELOPING MODERN BIOTECHNOLOGIES

This review paper covers the recent developments in the field of funga l physiology and biochemistry, particularly the recent research on spo rogenesis and the chemical composition of cells and cell walls. Of spe cial interest are modern biotechnologies developed on the basis of the se data and aimed at obtaining enzymes, pigments, and other biological ly active compounds, including medical drugs and biopesticides. Emphas is is placed on the environmentally friendly and economical character of these biotechnologies, which make it possible to obtain substances formerly isolated from plants and animals.
