Geochemistry of the environment of Prebaikalia

This paper presents data on the distribution of major and trace chemical el ements in the main components of the environment (bedrocks, soils, bottom s ediments, snow, water) of Prebaikalia obtained from a multipurpose geochemi cal mapping (scale 1:1,000,000) of the Baikal geoecological test ground and from monitoring. The created initial geochemical database helps one to gai n impression of the statistical regularities of the distribution of differe nt elements in bedrocks, soils, bottom sediments, water, and snow and to ev aluate their regional background and peculiarities of distribution on natur al and natural-technogenic landscapes of the region.
