Abstract
T cell energy is one of the mechanisms leading to the establishment and mai ntenance of peripheral tolerance. Recent data from our and other laboratori es indicate that anergic T cells are not functionally inert but in fact are capable of regulating the immune response in an active manner. In this rev iew, we describe our viewpoint on how anergic self-reactive T cells could c ontribute to regulation of the immune response. Human Immunology GI? 633-63 9 (2000).
