Abstract
This paper employs a conditional legit model to estimate the effects of sta re environmental regulations on foreign multinational corporations' new pla nt location decisions from 1986 to 1993. The relationship between site choi ce and state environmental regulations is explored, using four measures of regulatory stringency. We find evidence that heterogeneous environmental po licies across states do matter. (C) 2000 Academic Press.
