Abstract
Currently the measurement of leather compressibility can only be evaluated manually using a standard substance gauge. The parameter of leather compres sibility will have an important influence on the aesthetic evaluation of th e leather. Research was carried out which used a materials tester to compre ss the leather with a cylindrical probe. Various parameters that could infl uence the test method were investigated and the test method was optimised.
