Abstract
If chemotherapy or ionizing radiation induce widespread genomic responses t ending to circumvent or antagonize their ability to kill malignant cells, a n additional cause for therapeutic failure would be suggested. There is evi dence that some agents evoke extensive countervailing genomic activity, the nature and extent of which can be assessed with the use of 'gene chips'. ( C) 2000 Harcourt Publishers Ltd.
