The quantitative sudomotor axon reflex testing (QSART)

For the examination of peripheral sudomotor function, quantitative sudomoto r axon reflex testing (QSART) was established and evaluated recently. Based on on axon reflex, on indirect sweet response from eccrine sweat glands is evoked after application of acetylcholine to the skin. Using on appropriat e setting, a dynamic and quantitative measurement of sweat response is poss ible. This method is especially useful for sensitive evaluation of autonomi c disturbances, that con occur during the course of peripheral neuropathies . As non-invasive, technical simple method, it con easily be used for follo w-up examinations.
