Abstract
Relation of the electrical conductivity as a function of temperature and th e molecular structure data including infrared and ultraviolet spectra of p- methoxybenzylidene-2-amino-3-cyano-4,5,6,7-tetrahydrobenzo[b]thiophene and p-methoxybenzylidene-diphenylphosphine-2-amino-3-cyano- 4,5,6,7-tetrahydrob enzo[b]thiophene compounds has been investigated. The results of the electr ical conductivity, thermal activation energies obtained from electrical con ductivity measurements as well as the energy gaps calculated from ultraviol et (UV) spectra in the solid state are consistent with those of semiconduct or materials. The delocalized-pi-electrons in addition to the lone pairs of electrons on nitrogen atoms of azomethine groups of the two compounds were considered the main sources participating in the conduction processes.
