Abstract
The intramolecular cyclization of bis(arylmethylthio)acetylenes by electrop hiles like ICl, Br-2, POCl3, and Ph3C+BF4- to substituted 1H-2-benzothiopyr ans, -thiopyrylium salts and in a specific case to a 2-thiaspiro[5,4]-deca- 3,6,9-trien-8-one is described.
