Abstract
Ll, L alpha, L beta, and L gamma X-ray production cross sections have been measured for the elements Yb, Hf, W, Os, Hg, Tl, ph, Th and U for 59.54 keV gamma-rays from a 100 mCi Am-241 altered source. The average L-shell fluor escence yields have been deduced using the experimentally measured cross se ction values and the theoretical photoionization cross sections. The experi mental results for Xray production cross sections (Le, L alpha, L beta, L g amma) and average L-shell fluorescence yields are compared with experimenta l values, theoretical prediction and semiempirical fits. The agreements are reasonably good.
