Abstract
Copropagating helicons with azimuthal mode numbers m = +1 and m = -1 have b een observed in a large-diameter, weakly-magnetized helicon plasma source ( 13.5 cm diameter, 55 G). The amplitude and parallel wave number of the m = + 1 helicon are generally larger than those of the m = - 1 helicon, in agre ement with theory. (C) 2000 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.
