Abstract
The burning behavior and the influence of flame retardant species viz, poly
meric flame retardant, low molecular weight flame retardant additive and re
newable flame retardant polymer on a starch based biodegradable film are de
scribed. The flame retardancy of the biodegradable film has been assessed i
n terms of limiting oxygen index (LOI) and the biodegradability of the flam
e retardant additive treated film by a soil burial test. (C) 2000 Elsevier
