Abstract
This review shows potential of ionic liquids as a solvent. 1-Alkyl-3-allcox ymethylimidazolium chlorides showed strong antimicrobial activity. Twelve 3 -alkoxymethyl-1-methylimidazolium tetrafluoroborate were synthesized. Eight of them are liquid at room temperature. They are a new group of ionic liqu ids.
