VAiron (R), the expert system for blast furnace automation

VOEST-ALPINE Industrieanlagenbau GmbH (VAI) and VOESTALPINE Stahl Lint (VAS L) have developed an expert system for the automatic operation of blast fur naces, which is already implemented in several blast furnaces worldwide. Th is system, having as tradename VAiron, does not only allow to follow direct ly the processes in the blast furnace, but also to maintain stable operatin g conditions and consistent quality of the hot metal. This results in signi ficant savings in operational costs.
