Diphenylammonium triflate (DPAT) efficiently catalyzed esterification betwe
en equimolar amounts of carboxylic acids and alcohols in good to excellent
yields under mild reaction conditions. Transesterification of carboxylic es
ters with a slight excess of alcohols also proceeded using DPAT as catalyst
