Abstract
Intracellular fatty acid-binding proteins associate with fatty acids and ot her hydrophobic biomolecules in an internal cavity, providing for solubiliz ation and metabolic trafficking. Analyses of their in vivo function by mole cular and genetic techniques reveal specific function(s) that fatty acid-bi nding proteins perform with respect to fatty acid uptake, oxidation and ove rall metabolic homeostasis.
