Abstract
The increasing complexity of the drug development process is a major challe
nge for today's pharmaceutical industry. The industry is increasingly turni
ng to outsourcing to satisfy its needs for clinical trials. As much as 30%
of the clinical development budget is spent in this way. In contrast, only
12% is spent on R&D.
