Abstract
Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is a motor neuron disease involving bot h the upper and lower motor neurons in the brain stem and spinal cord. Alth ough it is well known that various central nervous system disorders can pro duce a 'pseudo-infarction' pattern on the electrocardiogram, there have bee n no reports of this particular pattern in ALS patients. This report concer ns an ALS patient who presented with an ECG pattern of S-T elevation follow ed by biphasic T and inverted T without any detectable myocardial abnormali ty. Data from the present case suggest that this pattern may be an inherent characteristic of ALS. Copyright (C) 2000 S. Karger AG. Basel.
