J. Holy, Authorial narration (narrative technique of complementing the story by non-narrative comments and autoreflexions of the narrator), CESK LIT, 48(2), 2000, pp. 132-153
The study is a part of the wide-ranging project entitled The Poetics of Lit
erary Works. It deals with the authorial narration, i.e. the narrative tech
nique in which the story is complemented by the numerous non-narrative comm
ents, digressions, reflexions and autoreflexions of the narrator.
The study dwells on the definition of the problem in theoretical literature
(W.C. Booth, G. Genette, K.F. Stanzel), in European literature in the nove
ls of Rabelais, Cervantes, Sterne and Diderot and mainly in the Czech liter
ature of the 20th century in the works of Vladislav Vancura, Jaromir John,
Milada Souckova, Vera Linhartova, Milan Kundera and other authors.
