Abstract
The title complex, his (4-nitrobenzaldehyde thiosemicarbazone) cadmium iodi de (C16H16CdI2N8O4S2) crystallizes in the triclinic system, space group P ( 1) over bar with a=9.632(2), b=11.227(2), c=14,031(3) Angstrom, alpha=67.50 (3), beta=86.99 (3), gamma=66.64(3)degrees, V=1278. 1 Angstrom(3), Z=2, D-c =2, 117gcm(-3), F(000)=772, mu = 3. 472mm(-1) MoK alpha radiation (lambda=0 .71073 Angstrom), R=0 0443, wR=0.1425 for 4529 observed, reflections [I>2 s igma(I)] of 4731 independent reflections. The result shows that the structu re contains CdL2I2(where L = 4-nitrobenzaldehyde thiosemicarbazone) distort ed tetrahedral units in which the two ligands are S-bonded as monodentate t o cadmium ion; the two iodide ions are also coordinated to Cd(II).
