The Computer Attitude Scale developed by Gressard and Loyd is one of the mo
st frequently used instruments to assess computer-related attitudes among p
re-service and in-service teachers. The present study reports on the develo
pment of the Hebrew language edition of this instrument by means of transla
tion and back translation. Data provided by a sample of 298 female undergra
duate students in Israel support the reliability and validity of the Hebrew
version of this instrument. Alpha coefficients of 0.84, 0.85 and 0.88 are
good indicators of the reliability of the three subscales. Construct validi
ty was demonstrated by correlations ranging between 0.21 and 0.53 with vari
ous measures of previous computer-related behaviour or behaviourial intenti
ons. (C) 2000 Elsevier Science Ltd. All rights reserved.
