Abstract
As a tribute to software process improvement's widespread acceptance, organ izations outside the traditional software development mold Lire trying to a dopt the CMM as the basis for their software process improvement programs. This article shows how to improve the project planning process using the CM M as a guide by focusing on its intent, instead of treating the CMM practic es as gospel.
