Abstract
A well-preserved soft-bodied arachnidiid ctenostome from the Berriasia n of the Crimea (Ukraine) is the first example of a bioimmured bryozoa n from eastern Europe. The specimen has additional importance as one o f very few bryozoans recorded from the Berriasian worldwide. It is ide ntified as Arachnidium brandesi, previously known from the German Barr emian, and referred to the new genus Simplicidium [type species Cellar ia smithii (PHILLIPS)].
