Abstract
Three species of the genus Hydraena: H. collymba, H. malkini and H. pa rticeps are reported by the first time from Nicaragua. Larvae of H. Pa rticeps were reared from eggs laid in captivity. Oviposition occurred during 2-3 days after mating. The 1st, 2nd and 3rd larval stages were completed in about 17 days. The average developmental period of H. par ticeps (egg to adult) was estimated in three weeks. This is the first known life cycle of these species belonging to the family Hydraenidae from tropical regions.
