Ee. Stashenko et al., Solid-phase microextraction with on-fibre derivatisation applied to the analysis of volatile carbonyl compounds, J CHROMAT A, 886(1-2), 2000, pp. 175-182
We have used a fast, sensitive and efficient method for the analysis of vol
atile carbonyl compounds (saturated aliphatic and unsaturated aldehydes) ba
sed on solid-phase microextraction with on-fibre derivatisation. Pentafluor
ophenylhydrazine was absorbed onto a poly(dimethylsiloxane)/divinylbenzene-
coated and exposed to the vapours of aldehyde-containing matrices. The hydr
azones formed on the fibre were desorbed into the gas chromatograph injecti
on port and quantified by means of electron-capture detection with high sen
sitivity (10-90 fmol) and good reproducibility (RSD<10%). The method was ap
plied to the headspace-sampling of volatile carbonyl compounds released dur
ing the thermally-induced degradation of sunflower oil. (C) 2000 Elsevier S
