The chemical composition of the volatile concentrates of the flowers of Cou
roupita guianensis, Lecythis usitata var, paraensis and Eschweilera coriace
a were examined by GC/MS. The major components identified in the flowers of
C. guianensis were linalool (21.5%), eugenol (18.9%) and (E,E)-farnesol (1
6.1%). The main constituents of the flowers of L. usitata var. paraensis we
re 2-phenylethyl alcohol (40.8%), phenylacetaldehyde (28.2%) and linalool (
22.1%). The flowers of E. coriacea were dominated by (E)-beta-ocimene (23.4
%) and hexanal (11.6%).
