Abstract
Density enhancement is a possible cause of the enhanced radiative recombina tion observed in electron coolers and electron targets. We present a screen ing model for the numerical evaluation of the density enhancement in the vi cinity of an ion at rest in a magnetized electron plasma. Our model extends the conventional. Debye screening in two ways: (a) we account for the magn etic field by using pseudo-particles with finite spatial extent instead of point-like electrons; and (b) the resulting set of equations is solved nume rically without linearization. Our model shows good qualitative agreement w ith experimental results.
